Fall in Love with Your Security Strategy

It’s February and you know what that means – love is in the air! That’s right, we’re talking heart shaped candies, bouquets of roses, chocolate covered strawberries... and, of course, physical security strategies. Let us explain the last part.

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, we’re reminding you that it’s never a bad time to fall in love with your security strategy.

Security may not seem like the most glamorous or exciting aspect of running a business – like insurance – but it’s one of the most important things you can focus on to protect buildings, assets, materials, employees, and more.

We’ll let you in on a little secret – since all businesses are different, it turns out there’s no magic love potion to fix your security strategy!

But there are some commonsense tips you can follow to start repairing your broken heart:

1. Let There Be Light

Are talk down services the best option for deterring crime?

Although it sounds nice, we’re not talking about a candlelight dinner. Thieves hate light. They work best under the cover of darkness and well-lit areas are just another obstacle in their way. So don’t make it easy for them!

Take a walk around your business at night and make a list of areas that aren’t well lit. This should be done across the entire property from the perimeter to the most inner areas. Then you’ll know exactly which areas need improvement.

The good news is lighting is often fairly cheap; there are even affordable solar-powered options available for areas without electrical access.

Motion-activated lights (like the ones you see on garages) are another great option to stun thieves with the element of surprise.

2. Don’t Give Up the Key to Your Heart

Or in this case, easy access to your business. Whether you’re trying to protect a construction site, dealership lot, substations or beyond, don’t give thieves easy access.

While fences are an important tool to establish a perimeter, it’s equally as important to make sure you regularly check fencing for any holes or weak spots.

Your fence is only as strong as your weakest link. Same goes for any gates or entry points – lock them up when not in use, especially after hours. And make sure you aren’t storing valuable equipment or assets right up against fences.

Thieves can easily cut through and take what they want before they’re ever noticed.

3. Find The Perfect Partner

We don’t mean to brag, but Pro-Vigil has a lot to offer. When it comes to physical security, you’re not an expert. That’s ok!

It’s the reason our team of security professionals dedicates themselves to protecting businesses around the country.

Our team is here to work with you, determine weak spots in your security posture, and leverage intelligent video surveillance technology to close those gaps.

Pro-Vigil uses cameras powered by artificial intelligence (AI) to spot suspicious activity – like someone jumping your fence at night when no one should be around.

That event is then handed over to our team of virtual guards who determine what action to take. In most cases, we deploy a combination of audio and visual deterrents including strobe lights.

We even “set the mood” with blaring sirens and pre-recorded announcements letting criminals know it’s time to leave – because let’s face it, there’s nothing they hate more than having their cover blown. In the most extreme cases, our team can contact emergency services to respond as well.

While we’re no love guru, we ARE security experts. When it comes to stepping up your affection for physical security and setting up your business for long-term success, we know a thing or two.

If you’re not in love with your security strategy contact us today to find out how we can partner and come up with a winning strategy.

Who knows, we might just make a perfect match.
