Construction Site Security

construction site video surveillance

Construction site security addresses the security needs specific to active job sites: a temporary, constantly changing environment with high-value equipment and materials, typically exposed with minimal permanent infrastructure, and unoccupied for significant stretches of time.

Construction sites present a distinct risk profile compared to permanent commercial properties:

  • Equipment and material theft is a persistent target, since tools and materials are often resellable and difficult to trace once removed
  • Site layout changes constantly as the project progresses, requiring camera coverage and masking configurations to be reviewed regularly rather than set once
  • No permanent power or network infrastructure typically exists early in a project, making solar-powered cameras and mobile surveillance trailers common solutions
  • After-hours vulnerability is high, since the site is fully unoccupied overnight and on weekends, when most theft and vandalism occurs

Remote video monitoring is widely used on construction sites specifically because it provides active, after-hours coverage without requiring a physical guard on a site that may not have permanent facilities to support one.
